Week 10

I have the final logo finished and set on the site. Colors are all done, and I have a template setup for creating for the duotone thumbnail images. To create them I just need to create an appropriate sized image, greyscale it, and then add a specific gradient map.
I decided to create separate links to About, Blog, and Contact pages.
It is possible to integrate a wordpress blog using iframe functions. I have seen a few forum posts on how to implement them on Cargo easily.
All that needs to be done with the site is minor tweaks with hyperlink colors and a few text color options. Otherwise the site is pretty much drag and drop with the options.

Week 9

Lately I havent been able to decide on a design and styles for my personal branding. I have a few ideas, but i havent been able to agree upon anything. My main idea revolves my sailor anchor tattoos.
I did decide to start setting up my projects for display on the Cargo site. All i really need to do is find out what projects i want, make a thumbnail, choose an appropriate layout for the design, and then post the items on the web.

Week 8

I created an account on CargoCollective.com. I plan on buying a Domain name to use in order to get to it much easier.I have yet to decide what i want that to be. I already own CameronBallensky.com.
Im unsure what type of layout i want to use. I want something that is nice and easy to navigate. There are about 10 or so different options for layouts. I love the ones that have thumbnails that expand and i also like the sidebar. The ones without sidebars also look good, but it is a bit confusing to know where to go and where to click in order to return back to the Index page.

I am also working on my personal brand identity. I have a small idea of where i want to go with the design of the logo and the style i want to use.
My main inspiration is my anchor tattoos. I would love to have that as part of my design because it is a big part of who i am. They are usually some of the first things people notice or remember about me. I do a lot to show them off. For colors i am thinking about some very neutral blues and reds. I want it to be very professional looking.

I have already began the illustrating of the anchor, and am now figuring out the way i am going to work with typography and color.

Week 6

While working on these illustrations i have decided to create more depth within them by adding textures. I will try to use the same techniques i used for my Sliced Murder Juice design for the Typography 3 class. I have the Tiger finished, the Genie close to finished, and the Lamp is finishing touches. I wanted to keep a similar layout throughout the entire group of posters. I used the same group of type at the bottom. The only difference is the texture or color applied to make it match the rest of the poster.

For the second project I have decided to make a blog for myself. I plan on using wordpress to create and put it all together. To showcase the actual work though, i plan on creating a CargoCollective website. I like the way they look, and a friend of mine has told me that they are easy to work on. Very similar to wordpress.

Week 5

This week i wasnt able to get much done. I have so much work to do for every other class that i could not focus on sketches.
I did determine though that i want to focus more on particular subjects than on an entire scene. The first poster was a illustration of the Tiger face. I would like to have something of the magic lamp, the genie's face, and then the magic carpet.
The designs i was originally thinking really didnt match what i was originally thinking i wanted to do.
I already have the lamp sketched out. I was thinking for that one, i would fill the background with glittering gold and other treasures.
The genie i was thinking i would surround with smoke and a few other effects.
And i would try to illustrate an elaborate magic carpet.
I want these all to be like silhouettes.

Week 4

I finished a few illustrations. Now i just need to finish sketching about 2 more and then illustrate them in Illustrator and they should be good to go. I was thinking of different looks that i wanted to achieve with them and i found a few good sources for inspiration. Before I started the original illustration i wanted to have the image to have a similar style to this.
http://matthew-lyons.blogspot.com/
The artist is named Matthew Lyons and is an illustration student in the UK. I was very jealous of his style because he perfectly achieves what i had envisioned my own work to look like.
I did talk to Mike Lynch and he said i shouldnt worry at all about copyright. He told me that because they are for my portfolio and are not meant to be sold anywhere i should be free to present them as examples of my style of work.

Week 3

This week i started some sketches for my Aladdin poster illustrations. I am thinking that i want the different scenes to be entering the cave, seeing the treasures, meeting the genie, and then escaping the cave. I also need to come up with a new color pallet for each one. So far all that i have is the initial illustration of entering the cave.
